Description

Troubled Waters: A Profile for Community Action provides a clear, comprehensive overview of freshwater issues, invaluable resources and inspiring community success stories describing successful actions your peers have taken to tackle this global problem in communities around the world. Recent water tragedies remind us that we cannot take safe water for granted. We've put our fresh water under tremendous pressure- our lakes, streams, and groundwater are all showing signs of stress. Across Canada and around the world people are making a difference in their communities- reclaiming watersheds, encouraging safer and reduced use of agricultural and industrial chemicals, reporting polluters, cleaning up industry and showing others how they can make a difference too! Without water life is not possible and much of the world is struggling to overcome declining supply and quality. As a result of lack of access to safe water 20,000 children die each day around the world.
