About Hubert Selby

Hubert Selby Jr. was born in Brooklyn in 1928. After a career in the merchant marines cut short by illness, he achieved international recognition for Last Exit to Brooklyn. His other novels include The Room, The Demon, The Willow Tree, Song of the Silent Snow (short stories), and his 2002 novel about a man hell bent on the destruction of others, Waiting Period (to be published in paperback by Marion Boyars in March 2003).
