About Shaun Barnett

Shaun Barnett started tramping in the Kaweka Ranges whilst a teenager in Hawkes Bay, and since then has tramped extensively throughout New Zealand and also in Tasmania, Alaska, Canada and South America. After working for the Department of Conservation he turned to full-time writing and photography in 1996. As well as co-authoring Classic Tramping in New Zealand, he has written the bestselling North Island Weekend Tramps and Natural New Zealand, and worked for some years as the editor of Wilderness Magazine. Rob Brown is a noted Christchurch photographer who has been writing about and photographing New Zealand's wild and remote areas for over 20 years. His photographs have regularly featured in a wide range of books, magazines and calendars, including Rakiura: The Wilderness of Stewart Island and the popular annual Wild Landscapes calendar featuring a selection of his large-format photographs.
