Bright Lights of the Dark Ages free pdf

"Bright Lights of the Dark Ages" is a stunning survey of magnificent early Medieval art objects. Many were found in burial mounds, interred as status symbols with their owners in the new barbarian kingdoms, which developed in Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire. It features over two hundred extremely rare gold and precious stonework objects, dating from the second to tenth centuries AD, that reveal the dramatic and surprising relationship between the so-called Dark Ages and later medieval art. Illustrated highlights include Gothic and Visigothic imperial style brooches from modern-day Slovakia and Crimea, and enameled domed brooches and buckles from Northern Europe and Britain.
