About Marianne Gullberg

Marianne Gullberg is Professor of Psycholinguistics andDirector of the Humanities Lab at Lund University, Sweden. WithPeter Indefrey she previously headed the research project "TheDynamics of Multilingual Processing" at the Max Planck Institutefor Psycholinguistics, Nijmegen. Her research focuses on theearliest stages of adult second language acquisition and on theadvanced or bilingual stage, examining lexical semantics,cross-linguistic (bi-directional) influences, code-switching, andthe production and comprehension of gestures. She has published ina range of journals, including Language Learning, Studiesin Second Language Acquisition, Bilingualism: Language andCognition, and Brain and Language.

Peter Indefrey is Professor of Psycholinguistics andNeurolinguistics at the Heinrich Heine University Dusseldorf,Germany, and research fellow at the Donders Centre for CognitiveNeuroimaging in Nijmegen. With Marianne Gullberg he previouslyheaded the research project "The Dynamics of MultilingualProcessing" at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics. Hisresearch is on first and second language processing and theirneural correlates. Some of his favorite topics are syntactic andmorphological processing, word production, reading, and thedevelopment of language processing in L2 learners. He has publishedin a variety of journals, including Cognition, PNAS,Neuroimage, Journal of Experimental Psychology,and Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience.
