The Russian audio course that jumps right into learning the language with expertly designed structure of the lessons and their thematic organization to benefit English Speakers. Engaging, attention grabbing, infused with cultural content to deliver immediate results for those who needs to master Russian fast. Will work with iPod, PC, lap-top, MP3, cell phone or any home stereo. No additional software or special equipment necessary. The Easy Russian for English Speakers provides a lightweight form of tuition which aims to show Russian language from the angle familiar to English speakers. It does not bombard students with heavy grammar. Certain elements of grammar are introduced as and when it is necessary. The format of each lesson exposes listener to correct pronunciation at correct 'live' speed of the language. New vocabulary and phrases are repeated several times though, so that the listener is able to capture and analyse this material. New vocabulary is then put into practice through dialogues and short conversations. Necessary minimal grammar and language concepts are explained in English. Foreign language learning need not be overly complicated. This audio course goes a little further than just the language and is offering an insight into Russian culture and literature. Such concept as the Russian soulA" is almost always missing in all traditional courses yet this is something that has significant influence both culturally and linguistically in Russian language. Many other courses spend little or no time showing features of Russian language sharing common roots with all other European languages, or showing important differences specific to those who speak English. I find that such elements significantly improve both quality and speed of learning and make overall learning experience more interesting. Anyone in possession of re-usable existing language features will make better progress in another language.

About Max Bollinger

Prior to establishing career in performing arts held management posts at The Cambridge University Local Examination Syndicate (now Cambridge Assessment), various management and consulting posts in British Telecommunications Plc (BT), British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Max Bollinger about Easy Russian for English Speakers series: My inspiration to produce this Easy Russian training course is not only based on my experiences of making English language audio training. I am a native speaker of Russian language myself. In my fairly long professional career in England, I have been asked by both my friends and colleagues on many occasions to help them with various aspects of communication in Russian language. In all these cases, requests would be accompanied by long explanation of how difficult it is to learn Russian and how little is available on the market to address the issue. Initially, this surprised me a lot, given that I could see many commercial and academic courses on the market offering tuition. When I did look into available courses, I soon discovered that many such courses were often based on outdated material, presented the language from an academic and often overly complicated angle, or on the other end of the spectrum, offered nothing more than primitive dictionary or phrase book, which did not provide any appropriate context or correct phraseology for those in need of either quick fix or something less demanding than a full time course requiring attendance in class rooms or a software package requiring a degree in computer science and serious financial investment. When I learned English, I discovered that my teacher wasn t only teaching us the language itself. He would bring English literature, music, talk about English culture and this made a huge difference for all his students. I would very much like to do the same with Easy Russian. In the first volume I included fragments of Pushkin poetry, important cultural concepts such as the Russian Soul and some basic informal and business etiquette. The second volume includes live speech of Yuri Gagarin, Chekhov story in the original and even Shakespeare in Russian.
