About Christina Bratt Paulston

Christina Bratt Paulston is Professor Emerita of Linguistics at the University of Pittsburgh. She served as Chair of the Department from 1974-1989 and as Director of the English Language Institute from 1969-1998. Her numerous publications include Memories and Reflections: The Early Days of Sociolinguistics (1997, edited with G. Richard Tucker), Linguistic Minorities of Central and Eastern Europe (1998, edited with Don Peckham), and Sociolinguistic Perspectives on Bilingual Education (1992). G. Richard Tucker is Professor of Applied Linguistics and Head of the Department of Modern Languages at Carnegie Mellon University. He has published more than 190 books, articles, and reviews concerning diverse aspects of second language learning and teaching, including The Bilingual Education of Children (1972). He has also worked as a Language Education Advisor for the International Division of the Ford Foundation in Southeast Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East.
