Life of Moravia PDF ePub eBook

Books Info:

Life of Moravia free pdf An autobiography of Moravia unusually set in the form of an interview with his friend, the writer Alain Elkann. It well illustrates how Moravia put much of his life into his books and demonstrates the literary use he made of the bourgeois world of his childhood in Rome, of his encounter with facism under Mussolini, of his months in hiding from the Germans in the mountains south of Rome, and of his marriage to two of the leading writers of his time - Elsa Morante and Dacia Maraini. Alberto Moravia's classic novel 'The Woman of Rome' is also available from Turnaround.

About Alberto Moravia

Alberto Moravia (1907-1990) was Italy's greatest living writer. In the 1930s, censored by Mussolini and the Vatican, he wrote under a pseudonym and during the war he and his wife were forced to hide out in the mountains south of Rome until the Liberation. His novels have all been reissued - The Time of Indifference, and The Woman of Rome, are both currently available from Turnaround. William Weaver was a close friend and confidante of Moravia and believes the book captures perfectly the sound and tone of his conversation - amused, full of incident, and above all honest about himself, Italy, and the world.
