I, Thou, We Poems free pdf In this book, I, Thou, We Poems, Beatrice Dike contributes to our understanding of how poems, along with art and prose, are ways of recording our inner experiences of our different external worlds. She used words in unusual, imaginative ways to move us - make us fly with her, in our imagination - emotionally, jolting us out of our fixed ways of thinking and feeling into surprising experiences of change. A poem rarely has only one possible meaning. We tend to read our own meanings into it, as we also do with any work of art. Looking back at the poems, I doubt if any one of them will cause the same emotional experiences in two different people but, I would want to say "That's life! And that's poetry for you. It is continuously surprising, new every morning. This poetic philosophy will excite, amuse and move, even a poetry novice into experiences of change = better. It will be of special interest to professionals in literature, scholars or students of literature, language and to anyone with interest in how words (language) moves us, power conceived as a living person.
