Books Info:

To Grow Young free pdf This is a story of one man's experience of the horrors of World War I. Frederick is a committed soldier and cavalryman whose dedication to his profession has earned him promotion to Regimental Sergeant Major. By March 1917, and now an officer in the Tank Corps, the newly trained Lt. Talbot must command his tank in winter battles at Arras. Meanwhile, as London grows vulnerable to air raids, his wife Violet helps feed the East End poor. She witnesses starvation, street riots, German bombings and growing unrest and agitation by war resisters. Fred has been in action in France since August 1914. He thought he had seen all the atrocities that war could bring until, in the summer of 1917, The Battle of Passchendaele (The Third Battle of Ypres) made him question their very survival. The cemeteries of men and tanks swallowed up in that 'damnable mud' represented for him the ultimate betrayal.

About Peter Talbot

Peter Talbot was born in Southampton and educated at King Edward VI School and at Bristol University, where he graduated in Mathematics. Thereafter his career encompassed teaching in Schools and Universities, including a Grammar School for Blind Boys, before becoming a College Vice-Principal and later Principal. The last seven years before retirement were spent as Chief Executive of a National Charity for the Blind. He now returns to his first loves of history and writing, and after extensive research in military archives and other reference sources, has written a first novel. A sequel is already underway.
