Promised New Zealand PDF ePub eBook

Books Info:

Promised New Zealand free pdf This is the true tale of Jewish citizens who fled Nazi terror in Europe for a safe haven on the opposite side of the world: New Zealand. The narrative skilfully interweaves the lives of twenty-four Jewish exiles: the Viennese philosopher, Karl Popper, is saved by travelling across the oceans to New Zealand, and German author Karl Wolfskehl and the youthful Peter Munz likewise. The journey brings others to this land from very diverse places, even from Dr Mengele's experiment rooms at Auschwitz. Freya Klier depicts the plight of these immigrants, whose stories could scarcely be more varied and which yet have one common link: they all flee to New Zealand, the one place furthest from Germany, their promised land at the end of the earth. This book is a significant piece of world history, featuring vital stories that need to be told before they are lost to subsequent generations. It is the first English-language translation of this important work and the first time it has been published outside Germany.
