Books Info:

Balloons of the Apocalypse free pdf For most of his cases involving marriage, Marlowe finds himself checking up on one unhappy spouse for another unhappy spouse. Nothing personal, just an unpleasant job. But not this time. Now he's the spouse, and if he can't trust Nina, his new wife and old bodyguard, they're both in big trouble. Because while their honeymoon destination, Beet City, has a reputation as a tourist mecca, it's also the holy seat of a powerful cult that worships the music of Ludwig Van Beethoven. What was supposed to be a routine undercover sham marriage in order to spy on a powerful cult bent on world domination quickly turns dangerous. Marlowe and Nina must navigate cult indoctrination, mandatory public transportation, and the constantly blaring symphonies of Beethoven in order to discover the secret that lies in the 10th Circle of Beet City. Instead of celebrating their fraudulent nuptials, they find themselves dodging goons, baton blasters, and artificially intelligent artillery. Will they divorce and their union just become another statistic? Will they discover the secret of the 10th Circle in time? Will they live to tell the tale? And just what is Marlowe's old enemy, Obedere, up to with all those steam-powered pigs?

About Ian M Dudley

Ian M. Dudley was born in California in 19--, in what will undoubtedly go down in the history books as a dark year indeed for literature. At age 18, or possibly 38 - there is some confusion about the actual dates - he ran away to New York City to find fame and glamor in the New York literary world. Not only did he not find them, he is believed to have dragged some promising new talents down with him. In 1993, Ian was forcibly committed to the New York Municipal Hospital for the Criminally Insane. It was there that he created the Marlowe and the Spacewoman series, of which Balloons of the Apocalypse is the third. Ostensibly a form of therapy, his conviction that the stories were actually being dictated to him by Marlowe proved counterproductive to his mental recovery. While doctors have strenuously recommended he stop, Ian has gone against medical advice and continued to write about Nina and her favorite retro detective. In 1996, Ian escaped from the New York Municipal Hospital for the Criminally Insane. He allegedly migrated to the West Coast, where the rules regarding placement of punctuation inside and outside of quotes are more fluid. His exact location is unknown, and no current photos of him are available. He is believed to live with his family and his beloved pet sea monkeys. Ian has written numerous unpublished works of fiction and non-fiction, the titles of which are too terrible to duplicate here, except for The Killer Party: How to Host A Murder Mystery. The promotional activities for that book are what led to his second period of incarceration. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on your point of view, the crime in question was committed in Texas and Ian successfully used the "he needed killing" defense on appeal. Ian has never won, and never will win, any literary awards for his efforts, but he is the prime suspect in a crime spree that resulted in the theft (and subsequent sale on eBay) of eleven of the last thirteen Hugo Awards (both prime numbers...hmm). The five Nebulas also offered didn't meet the reserve price, and were withdrawn from sale. He is considered armed and extremely clumsy, a combination that makes him even more dangerous. If you see Ian, do not approach him, and do not taunt him in Esperanto. Just contact local law enforcement, for all our sakes.
