Victorian Era free pdf "The Victorian Era" is envisaged as an anthology that will provide the material for a range of courses on literature from the Victorian period. All genres except the novel are offered and there is an emphasis, in contextual material, on complete pieces rather than the heavily extracted. It offers substantial teaching and reading selections of all major Victorian poets and a good selection of those increasingly rising to prominence in the academy. "The Victorian Era" includes a wide range of documents, allowing the reader a vibrant sense of Victorian cultural life and intellectual achievement. All material is annotated and introduced, brief biographical information is provided for each author, and indications of further reading are made where appropriate- marginal glosses guide the reader through the logic of prose arguments. The material is arranged in genre and, within that, chronologically by author's date of birth. A comprehensive guide/multiple indexing system at the beginning allows it to be divided into thematic groups. All material is reproduced in clear font size, with ample margins for notes. The volume provides an outstanding resource to students and readers of Victorian literature and culture, and a single volume introduction to the period of unique breadth.
