Chemical Ecology PDF ePub eBook

Books Info:

Chemical Ecology free pdf During the past 20 years marine chemical ecology emerged as a respected field of study providing a better understanding of the role natural products play in organisms and their environments. Ample data in this book advocates the conservation of marine environments for future drug discovery efforts while sustaining the health of marine environments. Marine chemical ecology has expanded to include research in the areas of predator-prey interactions, marine microbial chemical ecology, and seasonal and geographical distribution of marine natural products.

About Mikel A. Becerro

Melany P. Puglisi-Weening is an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Chicago State University College of Pharmacy. She received her BA in Chemistry from Southampton College in 1991, MS in Biology from the University of Guam in 1995 in the area of Marine Chemical Ecology, and PhD in Pharmacognosy from the University of Mississippi in 2001, specializing in tropical marine chemical ecology. She completed postdoctoral training at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and obtained a senior fellowship at the Smithsonian Marine Station at Fort Pierce, Florida, in the area of marine microbial chemical biology. Dr. Puglisi-Weening is a founding faculty member of the Chicago State University College of Pharmacy, which opened its doors in 2008. She worked closely with the administration of the college to meet the requirements of ACPE for full accreditation, which was successfully awarded in 2013. She teaches courses in biochemistry to students in the pharmacy program and a natural products elective addressing drug discovery and chemical ecology of metabolites. A member of the American Society of Pharmacognosy for 20 years, Dr. Puglisi-Weening has published eleven papers in international journals including review articles on marine chemical ecology for Natural Products Reports.
