Badal Sircar free pdf This is the first full-length study of BadalSircar (1925-2011), the man who brought theatre to the streets and to the masses in India. Drawing on a variety of sources like his (untranslated) autobiographical writings, interviews, existing articles and scholarship, it examines three distinct aspects of his work: * his art of playwriting, with milestone texts like EvamIndrajit, PaglaGhodaandBakiItihas * his form of theatre, which could be performed anywhere, was focused on the actor, and was an exercise in social critique * dissemination of this art form through extensive workshops and mentoring. Easy to read, this comprehensive account of Sircar's life and work is as much for theatre lovers as for scholars.
